An elite FBI containment unit must hunt down a serial killer who has, quite literally, gone postal.

A series of young women each receive five pieces of "returned to sender" mail, and then are brutally murdered. Adding to the mystery: they never sent the mail in the first place.

Special Agent Dana Voss is dispatched to Los Angeles, where she must lead a specialist pursuit team tasked with identifying and capturing the killer before he or she strikes again. The Rapid Containment Unit, as the pursuit team is known, has almost limitless powers of access and interrogation, a deep bench of experts, and state-of-the-art technology at their fingertips. The only thing they don't have is time.

Voss is joined in the pursuit team by LA-based Special Agent Nicole "Nic" Rufus, a surveillance and containment specialist. Rufus' rough methods and fierce independence mean trouble with her supervisors or on the streets is hot on her heels at all times.

When a fourth young woman comes forward, appearing to be the Return-To-Sender Killer's next victim, the Rapid Containment Unit jumps into protective and investigative action. As Voss and Rufus go full-tilt at answers, their work will bring them up close and personal with a West Hollywood strip joint, the dark web, religious fanaticism, and an unsolved ranch fire in South Texas.
